Even though you can print all over the shirt, there are certain limitations to keep in mind. There are a lot of misconceptions about dye sublimation t shirt printing.

How does dye sublimation t shirt printing work?
Why is there no raised area or texture from the printing?
With dye sublimation printing the sublimation inks directly degas into the shirt. In other words, they dye the shirt. They are not printed on top, so there is no raise or feel from the ink.
What fabrics work best with sublimation?
Sublimation printing works best on polyester fabric.
Sublimation on Cotton?
NO! Never, cotton is a natural fiber and will not sublimate.
Sublimation on polyester blends?
Yes, you can sublimate on polyester blends. However, if you sublimate on a garment that is not all polyester, you will not receive the bright and vibrant colors typical of dye sublimation printing. For instance, if you print on a shirt that is 50%Cotton/50% polyester, it will be about half as vibrant than a 100% polyester shirt. Certain designs can look great on polyester blends. It can give a vintage, or worn style to the shirt. *Some shirts are over 90% polyester and are combined with a fabric such as rayon or spandex. These shirts will generally sublimate just as well as 100% polyester shirts.
Can I supply my own sublimation friendly shirts?
Yes. If you have dye sublimation friendly shirts that you are looking to print, you are welcome to supply them. We can also look into getting them for you.
